I have a confession... I'm a really bad blogger!

So Im sitting here after being told for the 100th time that I need to blog for my business to be successful. So - this is a blog about blogging. To be honest it’s definitely not my strong point and actually I have come feel really irritated at being told that I need to blog for website traffic!

Not only do I find reading mosts peoples blogs a little boring but I feel like most blogs are about either how to succeed in blogging so that you can rake in the $$ or are just pointless ramblings and that people can see right through!

Where has the authenticity gone? it seems to be all about the numbers - monthly traffic - keywords - how many followers you have - how many posts you do per day! AND now tik tok, reels Fb Live and its all about putting yourself out there in a video - Jezus thats the last thing I want to do.

Damn it, I don’t want to have to think about SEO, web traffic and social media followers when I’m trying to provide a creative and authentic service to my clients…. it eats away at my enthusiasm for doing what I Love - and as a fine art photographer I can tell you that its not writing! (Did I need to put some kind of link there??)

What do you think? Are you struggling with being authentic on your blog? Do you think you can’t have a website without one?

I’d love to hear your thoughts.

You are totally going to love these tips for hanging wall art

Brown Plain Collages Facebook Post (1) copy.png

1. Step it Up

Although this type of stairstep arrangement can be more difficult to measure and hang, it has a huge impact on a stairwell area. Artwork in a variety of sizes helps fill the space without the arrangement feeling too angular.

2. On the Edge

Create visual depth by arranging frames of different sizes on a ledge, cabinet or picture shelf. Beware - dusting this display is not for the fainthearted.

3. Wow Factor

This vintage black and white photo as wallpaper is a cool way to make a bold statement with a favourite photo. It makes such an interesting backdrop to a room, and the neutrals, whether you go black and white or more sepia, allows you to bring in lots of colour with your furniture.
its also removable - Happy days!

4. Create a Grid

Hanging a collection of photographs in a tight grid creates a body of work that is unified while each piece tell its own story. This art display idea is perfect for that large blank space thats been bugging you.

5. Map it Out -  DIY Gallery Wall

Gallery walls done right are simply stunning but have so much potential to go wrong.  There's no need to go through trial and error in placement of your frames. Measure out templates in paper then stick them to the wall to finalise the overall look before you hang your art.

6. Behind the screen

A perfect solution for the blank wall behind your television frame the screen with photos of the people you love.

7. Tell a Story

Who says a photo wall has to be just portraits? Mix it up with  words that tell your visitors a story about who you are.

8. Mix it Up

Like wise with paintings, objects or even tapestries - set a colour theme and take your visitors on a visual journey of you life.

9. Hooked on You

This is one of my all time favourite ideas for hanging frames - especially above a bed. Why not make the hooks and twine a feature too?

Why don’t you hit the link below and send me across some of your ideas. We can start to chat about what you’re after and see if we ‘click’.

What I learnt from my UK workshop and a surprise international blog feature.

As some of you know I recently had the opportunity to travel to the UK for a workshop with a multi award winning photographer who’s work I greatly admire, Magdalena Sienicka.
We had so much fun in the studio with our young models Sophia, Julia & Lilia that day and I came away with so much new inspiration for my work.
So I'm pleased to introduce my new high key style.. crisp but dreamy and milky white - almost like a watercolour

As soon as I posted this one to Instaram is been picked up by Child Photo Competition and featured on their inspiring Monday blog. (Insert happy dance emoji here;) .

PS I'm currently booking in my last few shoots for the year - please get in touch to secure your spot.

Sneak Peek - Behind the scenes video

I can’t tell you how excited I am to share my behind-the-scenes video with you. I realised that some of my clients were a little apprehensive about a studio session - how formal it would be and if their child would be at their best on the day. So I’ve put together a little video - just over a minute and a half (we're all busy, busy people and no-one wants to sit through a snooze fest). Thanks so much to the Tatman family for being involved and allowing me to photograph their beautiful daughters and to Simon G for his GoPro skills. Enjoy - and please take a moment to let me know your thoughts.

What to wear

What to wear to a fine art photo session is a question I get asked all the time…
The clothing you wear on the day is very important… It will dictate the mood and tone of the portraits, and for that reason, should be carefully considered well in advance of the session date.
I am here to help you!
I have designed a mood board to guide the style of clothing that I recommend you wear.
And if you would like to, you are very welcome to send me photos of your clothes that you are thinking of bringing along to the photoshoot. I can provide feedback and give you tips on how to create a classiclook that will work well in the photos.
Overall, what we are looking for are timeless, stylish and minimalistic clothes that keep the focus on you rather than on the clothes.
